Garvy J. is one of the founding members of Boston's subversive pop band THE ELEVATOR DROPS. the band recorded 2 records: 1997's pop bus and 1998's people mover (arista/bmg) and toured extensively, opening for such acts as such as Pulp, Garbage, Blur, and Echo and the Bunnymen.
The band took a hiatus in 1999 due to a member's illness. So, Garvy (by this time addicted to touring) joined the band THE RENTALS (maverick records) (Matt Sharp formerly of Weezer's new wave act) and went back on the road with Matt and the boys to Europe and Japan. Sometime around 2000 Garvy and Matt rented a house in Nashville TN and Garvy helped to produce/record Matt's solo record and ep pucketts vs. the country boy (in music we trust).

In 2001, Garvy rented a loft/warehouse in downtown Los Angeles and started writing and recording what would become the record
What if it All Works Out? Due to the fact that the place was in such a bad neighborhood, not many of Garvy's friends would come down to contribute. So, out of necessity, Garvy wound up playing almost all of the instruments on the record as well as recording it.
During this time, two more Elevator Drops records were recorded, as well as an ambient record, and some brainwave music/experiments designed to alter one's state using science and math.
